Obituary for Charles Barnard

Charles Gregg Barnard, 68, of Flagler Beach, formerly of Hollister, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at his home following a brief illness. He was born and raised in Palatka before moving to Flagler Beach in 2013. He retired after 40 years of service with Georgia Pacific as an Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor. Gregg had also farmed onions and watermelons. He had served in the U.S. National Guard and was also past President of the Palatka Jaycees. Gregg rode rough stock and was the Florida Bareback Champion in 1967. He had also worked as a rodeo clown for many years. He enjoyed hunting, farming and reading. Gregg especially loved spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles H. Barnard and Marjorie Motes Barnard.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pat Woodall Barnard, of Flagler Beach, sons, Shawn Barnard (Tina) of Hollister and Josh Barnard (Katie) of Francis, grandchildren, Nickolas Barnard, Bryce Barnard and Brynn Barnard, numerous cousins and his “4 legged children”, Boo and Honey.
Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Brother Charles Litzell officiating. Burial will follow in Peniel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 pm until the time of services at 3:00 pm.
