Obituary for William Peeples
William Franklin “Bill” Peeples, 75, of Palatka, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at his home. A native of Bowling Green, Florida, Bill was raised in Weirsdale and resided in Palatka for 52 years, moving here from Tavares. He was a 1958 graduate of Tavares High School where he was an all-star in basketball and also played football. He later graduated from the University of Florida Forest Ranger School in Lake City. Bill worked 38 years with Hudson Pulp & Paper (Georgia Pacific) retiring in 1990 as Putnam Forest Land Manager. In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and tending to his fruit trees. Bill was also of the Baptist faith and an avid horseman and loved Gators and Jaguars football.
He is survived by his 3 sons, Forrest Peeples (Lisa) of Palatka, Wesley Lance Peeples of Deland and William Ryan Peeples (Kim Tennant) of Palatka, his daughter, Heather Peeples Reese of St. Johns, 3 sisters, Pat Kelley (Jim) of Winter Haven, Martha Smith of Tavares and Alice Foster of Astatula, 7 grandchildren, Dyan Deedrick (Shawn), Michelle Azula (J.D.), Wesely Grubbs, Kayla Tennant, Justin Peeples, Kaylee Davis (Jared) and Nathan Reese and 6 great-grandchildren, Luke Deedrick, Gavin Deedrick, Gabriella Deedrick, Jackson Azula, Jayden Peeples and Jayce Crews.
Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with burial to follow at Oak Hill West Cemetery. The family will received friends Friday from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
