Carl Covington Clifton, Sr., 80, of Bardin, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Putnam Community Medical Center. A native of Statesville, North Carolina, he resided in Putnam County since 1985 coming from Jacksonville. Carl worked as a roofer. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid FSU and Atlanta Braves fan.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Callie Clifton of Bardin, 2 sons, Coleman Clifton of Palatka and Carl Clifton, Jr. of Bostwick, 3 daughters, Cindy Salmon and Caren Herr, both of Bostwick and Carla Johnson of Palatka, 3 brothers, Donald Clifton and Steve Fletcher Clifton, both of Norfolk, VA and John Curtis Clifton of Memphis, TN, 2 sisters, Jeannie Cofer and Roxanna Clifton, both of Virginia Bch, VA, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Providence Baptist Church in Bardin with Pastor Eric Botley officiating.
