Obituary for Robert Kolar

Robert J. Kolar, 90, passed away in his home on Sunday, February 23, 2014. He was born on October 31, in Cleveland, Ohio and had lived in Miami before coming to Palatka in 1972. He was in the US Navy during WWII and was an officer of the Dade County Sheriff Dept. from 1952-1955 and a police officer for Miami PD from 1960-1971. Robert had also worked in Palatka as a building superintendent.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Dorothy Kolar; son, Bruce Kolar; parents, Mary and William Kolar and brother, William Kolar.

He is survived by his sons, Burt Kolar, Robert Kolar and Bryan P. Kolar, several loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at St. Monica Catholic Church in Palatka with Father Amar celebrant. Burial will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens.

Robert loved his family, church family and all animals. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to Useless Animal Farm Sanctuary, 7451 Crill Ave, Palatka, FL 32177.
