WALTER B. MOTES Walter B. Motes, age 77, of Francis, died Tuesday January 12, 2010 at his home after a short illness. He was a native of Palatka and a life-long resident of Putnam County. He was of the Baptist faith, was a member of Pineland Masonic Lodge # 86 F&AM and the Morrocco Temple Shrine in Jacksonville. He was a member of the Putnam County Cattleman�s Assocatiion and a life-long rancher. He worked as an electrician at Georgia Pacific for several years and was a member of I.B.E.W. #1583. He loved to hunt and fish and loved sponsoring his grandchildren and other children�s live stock projects. He was a member of Log Haul Hunting Club in Ridgeland, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by parents, Miller & Inez Motes, a brother, Sonny Motes, and grandsons, Jeffery & Steven Tenney. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Shirley Jean Motes of Francis, children, Lynda �Sister� Daniels of Francis, Tim Motes and wife, Geri of Port St. Lucie, Judy Rich and husband, Phillip of Bardin, Stephanie Adkins of Palatka, Theresa Lott of Orange Park, Hank Johnson and wife, Kristie of Bostwick, 14 grandchildren, Michelle �Shelly� Thomas, Jeramy Motes, Marcus Motes, Sarina Wiechens, Mandy Massey, Chase Rich, Dustin Adkins, Haley Adkins, Julie Adkins, Taylor Tenney, Tres� Lott, Trenton Johnson, Aubrey Johnson, Kallie Johnson, 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, January 15th at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Brother Charles Litzell officiating. Burial will follow at Peniel Cemetery. In celebration of his life a memorial video will be shown. Friends may call Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. |
