Oh
sweet Iris! What a wonder women you are! the angels in heaven are
singing your name! How grateful we are to have know you. I remember
hang'in out at the beach house, Isabelle my daughter was not yet
two. Evie had been taking care of Belle while I was in
New York for
business. I came back and stopped in Jacksonville to buy a tea set
for Belle. I found a perfect pretty tiny china set. The Girls were
all at Iris, as belle opened the tea set and dropped it to the
ground, it cracked apart, Iris laughed and out from the toy shopping
cart came a big plastic tea set with many years of wear. Iris
suggested I put the tiny china set away for later. Oh how thankful
this young mother was. Catherine and Isabelle Doyle ~ formally of Palm Coast, FL presently: Ellicott City Md
Aunt Iris was a sweet and funny great aunt. I will never forget the good times at the beach with Aunt Iris, Jennifer, Jeannette, Gran, and Aunt Alice. I'm so glad that I flew to Florida from Arizona for a Christmas surprise so I had a chance to see Aunt Iris. She will be missed. Rest in Peace and I love you, Aunt Iris. Emily Cooper ~ Phoenix, AZ
Iris will be missed. As our family sits and talks about Iris many things come to mind. The many visits to the beach, late night talks about old times, and the conversations on the phone. Our family was blessed to have someone as caring and loving as Iris. On behalf of the Stone and Britt families, we send our heartfelt condolences. MaeDeweese Stone & Family ~ Orrum,North Carolina
Everyone talks about Aunt Iris and the beach. Those are certainly special memories to me, but I first think back to visits in Albany - Aunt Iris coming home in her nurse's uniform, walking around the lake and feeding the ducks, Penny and Josh growling for favorite dog honors, and me eating the candy corn that was meant for Penny! Then came the beach years - along with Jennifer, Jeannette, and Emily. Those were such fun times. I have so many memories and pictures of the girls at the beach, looking for shells, and doing the Aunt Alice craft projects. Looking back, I realized how blessed we have all been to have had such simple, wonderful days in our past and such a sweet, happy Aunt to have been part of them. I am very thankful that I was able to visit with her at Christmas. She walked out the door that day laughing as usual. That is how I will always remember her. Gale Simpson ~ Birmingham, AL
Iris was such a joy to know, she was truly my "role model" because she was one lady who knew how to relax and enjoy the beauty around her. Her laugh will be so missed at the beach when all the "girls" get together. Marti Jewell ~ Palm Coast, Fl
Iris`s laugh was most contagious. Iris had a wonderful way of telling stories about her life and family. I will always remember the great times at the beach with both Iris and Billy. No one can ever replace Iris`s joviable self. I will cherish the private talks and advise that Iris gave to me. May she reunite with Billy, her family and my dad and tell more fun loving stories at the beach in heaven. Will think of you often and may you be at rest. Marcia Marcia and Phil Hayton ~ Palm Coast, Fla.
Iris and I had fun watching things go by on the ocean here at the Hammock. We were teased about seeing a "motel" float by one day. I will miss Iris and her beautiful smile. Joyce Dobbs ~ Hammock , Florida
I met Aunt Iris and Uncle Bill when I was in college. I would go home with Alice and wondered - what will we do this time? The Coopers (Marie and Willard) and the Holmes (Iris and Bill) were the biggest kids I ever knew! Whether it was singing, going down a slide with Uncle Bill or just listening to Iris telling us all to behave (mostly directed at Bill and Willard), it was always fun. I loved it when Aunt Iris would tell us I dont eat much or said an absolutely for emphasis! She made me laugh a lot and would often laugh until she cried. The beach was her Heaven on earth. Seeing her in her hammock, reading and then napping, or taking an early morning walk are images I will never forget. She tanned beautifully (all except where her eyes wrinkled when she laughed). She was one of a kind. Now, she has rejoined some of her playmates. Those of us she left behind can only imagine the joy she must have today. My sadness of losing her is indeed selfish. I will always miss her laughter and her love. Fran Buford ~ Tallahassee, Florida

Iris will truly be missed. We are very thankful to have known her for over 20 years. Good times at the beach house, Easter egg hunts and fishing.Glad we were able to enjoy this past Thanksgiving with her, Alice, Marie and Mike. You will be missed. Sandra, Chip and Jennifer Owen ~ St. Augustine, Florida
Iris
was my second mother and I will never forget her. I see her every
where I go here at the beach and hear her wonderful laugh which made
everyone smile. Whenever I watch the birds, dolphins, catch a fish,
fry a fish or just go to the beach, she will always be there with
me. Although taken from us way too soon for me, I know she is no
longer in pain and with her beloved Bill at the big beach in the
sky! I love you Iris and will miss you so very much. Evelyn Shellenberger ~ The Hammock, Palm Coast, Florida
Although not our relative by definition, Aunt Iris was definitely our "kin". We will miss her beautiful smile and her warm southern drawl that was always welcoming. Sincerest sympathy, Betty & Red Betty Jones & Eileen "Red" Jones ~ Ocklawaha, FL
All the
memories of Aunt Iris always bring a warm smile. My prayers for
your family. Todd Holland ~ Marble Falls, Texas
