Obituary for Devona Rowe

Dr. Devona Powell Rowe, 63, of Palatka, passed away at her home Wednesday, April 23, 2014.
She was a passionate educator, having taught in Putnam county schools for many years, as well as in St. Johns and Duval counties. She earned her undergraduate degree in library science from Florida State University, and remained a lifelong Seminole fan. Devona graduated with a Doctorate in Education from University of North Florida in 2001. She taught AP Psychology and AP World History at Palatka High School, and also worked as a guidance counselor there for several years. Dr. Rowe was proud to have implemented and supervised the teen parenting program at Palatka High School.
She was formerly a member of the Woman’s Club, and a member of Daughters of the King at St. Marks. Devona was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge.
She was preceded in death by her father, J.D. Powell.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ralph Rowe, of Palatka, her children, Adam Rowe and wife Tori of Palatka, and Reagan Rowe Huddleston of St. Augustine, her mother, Martha Powell of St. Augustine, a sister, Alice Daniels and husband Jay, of St. Augustine, 8 grandchildren, Jasmine Rowe, Addison Rowe, Devon Rowe, Leah Rowe, Walker Huddleston, Rowan Huddleston, Nathan Garrett and Jacob Garrett, as well as many other loving family members.
A memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 26, 2014 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Palatka with Father Bob Marsh officiating.
