Obituary for Flagler Curry
Flagler E. Curry, 88, of East Palatka, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka following an extended illness. He was a native of Alachua County and had lived in East Palatka the past 34 years coming from Valdosta, Georgia. He was a member of the Palatka Church of God. He enjoyed working, especially his church work and also enjoyed farming, fishing, singing and playing the guitar. He loved children and he loved his dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Amelia Curry of East Palatka; four sons, Charles Curry (Cyndie) of Mechanicsburg, PA, Stephen Curry (Sharon) of Tifton, GA, Robert Curry (Linda Kay) of Nashville, GA, and David Curry (Laura) of Ray City, GA; two daughters, Linda Sue Thornton of Valdosta, GA and Mary Catherine Reams (Bob) of Carrolton, GA; five step-children, Charlene Lamon of East Palatka, Regina Tyner (Alan) of Niceville, FL, Gail Shaw (Cleveland) of Valdosta, GA, Wanda Lamon (the late Richard Lamon) of Valdosta, GA and Thomas Lamon (Joy) of Ocala, FL; brother, Aaron Curry; sisters, Mary Alma Barnes and JoAnn Wagner; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the Palatka Church of God with Pastor Robin Tripp officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at 2:00P.M. Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Sunset Cemetery in Valdosta, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, 6400 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, FL 32177.
